Top Sunset Spots

Trinidad and Tobago is a sight to see during the day, from the mountains and busy towns to the gorgeous beaches and hidden rivers.
But there's something about the way the sky changes colour as the sun begins to dip, giving off a golden glow that manages to elevate its beauty. If you ever find yourself in T&T and wondering where you can sit and marvel at one of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see, look no further.
I’ve compiled a list of some of the best sunset spots on the island

1.                Paramin
Paramin Hills

By far, one of my personal favourite sunset spots on the island is at the top of the Paramin Hills in North-West Trinidad. Paramin Village is located on one of the highest points along the Northern Range and is accessible via a car ride up a steep incline and a few winding turns through the village frozen in time. I personally enjoy taking a short trek up the hills to arrive at this particular point (pictured above). Here you can see the sun dip beneath the mountains, casting its glow over the island.

2.                Down D Islands (DDI)

Off the North-West Peninsula of Trinidad there is a string of small island that separate Trinidad and Venezuela.  Here the locals affectionately refer to as “Down D Islands”. Accessible by boat, onlookers can catch a glimpse of the sun as it disappears behind a few of the islands bringing in the night

3.                The Temple In The Sea

This Hindu Temple is located in Waterloo, Carapichaima. The beautiful place of worship is not only a marvelous work of architecture filled with a rich history of determination and faith but also a perfect spot to watch the gorgeous sunset off the horizon. Looking out into the see, you can witness the sunset in its full glory before is disappears beneath the waves.

4.                Fort George

This forth sits atop the hills of St. James, overlooking the city and the Gulf of Paria. Not only is this spot the perfect vantage point for a view of West Trinidad and the ocean but come evening time it gives onlookers a spectacular view of the sun setting on the horizon. You can even see the city change colour and come alive at nightfall.

5.                Caroni Swamp
Caroni Swamp (View from boat)

The Caroni Swamp and Bird Sanctuary is home to one of Trinidad and Tobago’s national birds, the Scarlet Ibis. Tours are available for anyone interested in seeing the natural flora and fauna of the swamp. However, the real attraction comes at sunset when flocks of Scarlet Ibis return to their nesting places. This spot is a 2-in-1 site as you not only get to witness the beautiful migration of the birds but also a sunset that will leave you speechless.

6.                Store Bay, Tobago
Store Bay

Tobago is without a doubt, one of the most picturesque places I have had the pleasure of seeing. From the beautiful beaches and the Buccoo Reef to the people and the individual culture that exists within our twin island state. There are many places on the island to take in the beautiful sunset, but one of my personal favourites has to be laying on store bay, listening to the sound of the waves and watching as the world around me changes colour while the sun begins to set beneath the horizon.
