Trinbago Vegan pt. 1 | The Food Edition

If you have adopted a vegan lifestyle or even a vegetarian lifestyle, you've probably noticed by now that it can be a bit of a challenge to find places or products that are inline with your plant-based needs locally.

I have been digging through social media trying to uncover plant-based companies that cater to a variety of needs. This series will go beyond just local vegan food and desserts but will also cover skincare products and a variety of other topics. So stay tuned!

The Food Edition

When it comes to finding local vegan dishes and food options in T&T it can be a challenge as most places don't provide a wide variety of vegan options and let's be real.. the vegan 'options' at most commercial restaurants are basically just salads.

The following is a list I've compiled of a few plant-based food options, locally made right here in sweet Trinbago. These businesses offer a variety of options that can appeal to all your different foodie cravings!

IG: @youthful_vegan

The Youthful Vegan- As one of the first vegan establishments in Trinidad, they offer a variety of plant-based recipes, desserts and even vegan lifestyle tips! If you're one of those people who are skeptical when they hear the word 'vegan', I can almost guarantee you that their feed can change your mind!
IG: @veganvibett
Vegan Vibe TT-  These guys specialize in gourmet, vegan soups and bowls and even offer catering to small and medium sized events! Not to mention, their Instagram feed is gorgeous!

IG: @vansvegandelights_tt

Van's Vegan Delights- Not gonna lie, I got instantly hungry after I found this page. Van's provides vegan lunches starting at only $50TT. Not only do they provide plant-based lunches but they offer a variety of other products like plant-based mylk, nut butters and even cheeses!

IG: @oatquake10.0
Oatquake- Not only are they vegan but their baked goods are flourless and contain no added sugar! There is literally no downside to this! You're probably asking yourself "but does it taste good?" and the answer is YES. I've had the pleasure of trying some and they were YUM!

IG: @dboujvegan
D'Bouj Vegan-  "Serving vegan love" is what you can expect from this plant-based business! Apart from their mouthwatering dishes, what really caught my eye on their page were their vegan desserts (I'm drooling). Vegan brownies, cupcakes, cake and I even saw a Piña Colada CHEESECAKE!

These are just a few of the local vegan food places I came across on social media. I even stumbled upon @vegstagramtt where they post really helpful vegan finds, foods and even reviews of plant-based items that you can pick at your local grocery.
So if you've been considering making the lifestyle change or have already made the switch and just want a wider variety, I hope this post was helpful and stay tuned for more in this series.
